A question that is ALWAYS asked of us when we appear in court is, “Do children lie?” Well, the answer to that is of course, yes. Some child do lie. And the following story is why I love my job.
A child at work today told me that she has a pet camel. That’s right. A pet camel. For those of you who don’t know me well, look over previous blogs to capture the town I work in in its entirety. Have a good mental picture? Let me help. Farms. More farms. Overalls. Cattle. Goats. Horses. Fried chicken. Tobacco. People using tobacco. People eating fried chicken. People named “Little Buddy” eating friend chicken.
So this sweet little girl told me she has a pet camel. When I asked her what she feeds the camel, she said apples. When I asked her where the camel sleeps, she said of course, he sleeps in her bedroom. She said she also has a dog and a cat. When I asked if they sleep in her bedroom, she said no. The bedroom is only for the camel, she informed me.
She also told me that her best friend is the lunch lady. Which made me love her even more.
Thank you, little girl, for making me laugh. Thank you for being a silly girl.
